Reminders
I'm not getting reminders
- Allow notifications: Android Settings → Apps → Money Wise → Notifications.
- Let Money Wise run in the background: Settings → Apps → Money Wise → Battery → Unrestricted (wording varies by phone). The app can open this setting for you when it asks.
- Check the bill: reminders must be turned on for it, and it mustn't already be marked paid.
- Open the app once after restarting your phone or updating the app.
Why do reminders sometimes arrive late?
Android groups background work to save battery, so the reminder check runs every few hours rather than at an exact minute. Some manufacturers (for example Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus) restrict background apps more aggressively; setting battery use to Unrestricted helps. Reminders are sent days ahead so a short delay doesn't matter.
Bills
How do recurring bills work?
When you set a bill to repeat, Money Wise creates the upcoming occurrences for up to a year ahead (or until the end date you choose) and keeps adding more over time. Monthly and yearly bills keep their original day; a bill due on the 31st falls on the last day of shorter months.
What does autopay do?
If a bill is paid automatically by your bank, turn on autopay and Money Wise marks it paid on its due date, so it won't show as overdue. It doesn't make any payment.
Can I group bills by my pay cycle?
Yes. Open the filter on the bills screen, choose Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly, and pick the date your cycle starts.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
Only on your phone. There's no account and nothing is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy.
Will I lose my bills if I change phones?
If Android backup is turned on, your app data may be restored when you set up a new phone with the same Google account. Built-in sync across devices is on our roadmap.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings → Reset Bills or Reset Categories. You can also clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
